The Ron Dearing University Technical College (UTC) is a new development backed by Hull University and the region’s leading employers, the UTC will provide young people with an employer-driven academic, technical and vocational education that will significantly improve their higher education and employment opportunities and fast-track them into their chosen careers.
The UTC’s new building is equipped with state-of-the-art industry-standard technology, IT systems, programming software and over £350,000 of virtual reality technology and 3D printers.
The facility will teach students skills in digital technology and mechatronics alongside core subjects such as English, maths and science, with the aim of inspiring young people to become the next generation of engineers and digital technicians.
Built around a state-funded academy structure, the institution will actively combat the technical skills gap by giving students everything they require to excel in STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), with an equally strong emphasis on employability.
